Primac Gurus Association Inc management committee are pleased to announce that Mr. Robin Hart AM has accepted their invitation to be the Foundation Patron of the Association.
Robin had been Chairman of the board of Primac for their last six years of the company’s existence. He followed Mr Alex Nason as Chairman, having previously been a member of the board of directors.
The Hart family have given long and distinguished service, not only to the livestock industry, but also as directors of both Mactaggarts PPCA and Primac Limited.
Robin’s father, Sir Byrne Hart CBE was a director of Mactaggarts from 1954 to 1974. Following the merger of Primaries and Mactaggarts, he became deputy Chairman on the new board of Primac Limited. Prior to the merger he has been the Chairman of Mactaggarts board of directors.
The Involvement of the Hart and Mactaggart families even goes much deeper with Ian Hart, Robin’s brother marrying Doug Mactaggart’s sister Elane. This family dynasty is very comparable to the Campbell family, who had such a long and successful involvement with the other partner, Primaries.
Robin was one of the first people involved in the feedlot industry in a commercial manner. Along with Don and Mertha Bridgeford of “Mungalla” Warra, Dugald Cameron of “Aronui” and Methuen and Margaretta Morgan of “Arubial” Condamine, Stockyard Beef supplied trade weight cattle to Australian supermarkets. After a visit to Japan, the Hart family went their separate way, and successfully marketed their own highly regarded brand. The rest is history.
As well as being successful in the feedlot industry, Robin and his family were breeders of quality cattle and ran a Santa Gertrudis stud, with “Argyle” at Kingsthorpe being the venue of the Big S Santa sale for many years.
Richard Handley, the President of Primac Gurus committee mentioned, ” He saw the invitation for Robin to be the Patron of our Association as a means to add some credibility and integrity to our movement. We were extremely pleased when he accepted. We look forward to his continuing support and guidance in the future.”
