Mactaggarts Kilcoy

(Below information is courtesy of Jerry O’Sullivan in his own words.)

To my knowledge a fellow called Col Pershouse (C.A. Pershouse & Co) was a private agent in Kilcoy during the 1950s/1960s and he acted as a booking agent for Mactaggarts at Cannon Hill sales. When I joined Mactaggarts in 1967 they operated pig & calf sales at Kilcoy with Col Pershouse on regular fortnightly basis each Monday and I think a monthly cattle sale in a very old set of yards in Kilcoy just over the creek on the Woodford road. I understood that Mactaggarts bought out the Pershouse business some time in the late 1960s and Tim Clifford was appointed to be first Manager of Kilcoy branch. Young men such as Bill Steer and John Sullivan spent time assisting Tim Clifford and in the early 70’s he was transferred out to manage Primac branches in the west such as Roma, Winton and Mitchell. Corey Luxmore took over from Tim Clifford for a short period before Glen Cameron commenced his long rein as Kilcoy Branch Manager.
